Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Scripture calls us to let the word of Christ settle down and make its home in us—not as a guest passing through, but as a permanent, life-giving resident (Colossians 3:16). This means giving the teachings of Jesus and the whole of God’s Word a settled place in our hearts and minds—a familiarity that leads to love, remembrance, and ready obedience. The Gospel itself is not just a story about Christ, but the very message He authored and fulfilled, offering us forgiveness, righteousness, and life through His sacrifice.

When God’s Word dwells richly in us, it becomes like a treasury from which wisdom continually flows (1 Timothy 6:17). We are to fill ourselves abundantly—not with selective truths or favorite verses, but with the fullness of Scripture, savoring every part as God’s good and trustworthy counsel. As we do this, wisdom grows—not just head knowledge, but spiritual insight for life, relationships, and worship (Ephesians 1:17).

One way the Holy Spirit calls us to share and reinforce this Word is through teaching and gentle admonition within the church family. This happens, the passage says, even as we sing together—using psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs not only to praise, but also to plant truth deep in our hearts, to encourage one another, and to spur each other toward faithfulness (Ephesians 5:19). Singing with grace means our praise overflows from hearts nourished by God’s kindness and filled with thankfulness for what He’s done (Colossians 4:6; Hebrews 11:6).

Let the Word of Christ take deep root in you—not as mere information, but as a living reality shaping your understanding, your joy, and your worship. In God’s design, this overflow of His Word isn’t a burden, but a source of gratitude, unity, and ever-deepening wisdom.
