John 11:25
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies.
When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” He wanted Martha—and all who would listen—to understand something extraordinary: His power to give life is not a distant hope, but a present and personal promise (John 11:25). He doesn’t just point the way to life after death; He Himself is the source of life, both now and forever. When Jesus calls someone from the grave—as He did with Lazarus—it is not a borrowed authority or a temporary display. It is the living proof of His divine power, a glimpse of the coming day when all who belong to Him will rise again (John 5:28-29).
But the truth of Jesus’ words reaches even deeper. He raises us not only from physical death, but also from spiritual death—the old ways and dead ends we all once inhabited (Ephesians 2:1-5). By His sacrifice, He makes it possible for sinners to live for God, and every believer becomes alive in a new and lasting way. He breathes new life into hearts that were lifeless, awakens spiritual longing, and fills our souls with hope (1 Peter 1:3). Even now, He feeds and sustains that life, providing grace for every step (John 6:35). In every believer, Christ Himself is present and active—our life is hidden in Him (Colossians 3:3-4).
When we put our faith in Jesus, death loses its sting and finality (1 Corinthians 15:54-57). For those who trust Him, even our graves are not places of despair, but of hope. Each sorrow, each sin, each fear is met by His living power—and one day, we will be raised with glorified bodies, transformed and imperishable (Philippians 3:20-21). Even now, if you feel empty or weary inside, remember Christ is the one who calls dry bones to life, turning spiritual death into vibrant hope and joy. You can rest in this assurance: in Him, life—not death—has the last word.
