Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Pause for a moment and soak in these remarkable words: Jesus is the very brightness of God’s glory. Just as sunlight shines and reveals the beauty and power of the sun, Christ radiates and displays the fullness of God’s nature—His wisdom, majesty, and love—making the invisible God known in visible, tangible ways (Hebrews 1:3). He is not a mere reflection, but the actual outshining—of the same essence, inseparable, yet distinct, as the ray is to the sun itself.
He is described as “the express image of His person”—the exact imprint of God’s very being (Colossians 1:15). Just as a seal leaves its perfect mark in wax, Jesus is the complete, living representation of the Father. To see Christ—His compassion, His strength, His humility—is to see the very heart and character of God.
And while this glorious Son reveals God to us, He also sustains everything around us. By the power of His word, He upholds galaxies, seasons, and every heartbeat. Nothing in the universe continues without His constant provision and care (Colossians 1:17). This same Mighty One, in great love and humility, made purification for our sins—not by delegation, but by taking it on Himself. Through His sacrifice, He removed the stain of our sin, accomplishing what no earthly priest could ever do (Hebrews 9:26).
When His saving work was finished, He sat down at the right hand of Majesty—exalted, honored, and forever reigning as our victorious Savior. Because He has gone before us, finishing the work perfectly, we can approach God with hope and confidence—resting in the Light who shines, saves, and holds us fast.
