Matthew 10:32
Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven.
There’s a breathtaking honesty in Jesus’ invitation: “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven” (Matthew 10:32). This isn’t just about a private, secret faith—though our hearts must certainly trust Him first. The call here is for a faith that speaks out, a willing confession that overflows from gratitude and love. To confess Christ means openly giving Him credit for our rescue, celebrating His work in our lives, and not being ashamed to be counted among His people (Romans 10:9–10).
This public declaration happens in both word and deed. Sometimes it may simply mean sharing what the Lord has done for you with a friend or through a simple prayer at the table. At other times, it means siding with God’s people when the world is resistant or hostile. For pastors and teachers, it means courageously preaching the full truth: that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, our only mediator, who bore our sin, purchased forgiveness through His blood, and was raised for our justification (1 Timothy 2:5–6; Romans 4:25). He intercedes for us still and will one day return as Judge and King (Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:11).
Jesus knows those who belong to Him. When we stand with Him in this world—no matter how costly or inconvenient—He promises to stand with us before the Father forever. There will be a day when every hidden act of quiet faithfulness and each bold confession will be openly honored, not because of our strength but because of the grace and victory of Christ.
Take heart, then, and let your faith be seen and heard. Our Savior delights to honor those who love Him—and He will never forget His own (2 Timothy 2:12).
