Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus
We’re invited here to lift our eyes to the humility of Christ—not simply as a quality to admire from a distance, but as a real pattern to follow, woven into the everyday attitudes we hold toward one another (Philippians 2:5). Imagine walking through life with a humble heart like His: resisting pride, refusing to demand our own way, eager to serve without seeking applause. The call isn’t complicated, but it is deeply countercultural—it means letting Christ’s gentle, selfless spirit shape how we approach every situation.
Jesus’ humility wasn’t put on for others’ approval. From eternity, He set His love on His people and willingly agreed with the Father to take on our humanity (John 6:38), and in time, He lived out that decision with perfect consistency. He didn’t choose a path of privilege or ease. Instead, He accepted poverty, hardship, and pain, wrapping Himself in the frailty and struggles that mark human life (2 Corinthians 8:9). From serving at a dusty table to washing the feet of deeply flawed followers (John 13:14-15), He modeled humility not as a pose, but out of genuine love.
Some might think that humility means self-doubt or weakness, but Christ’s example shows the opposite—it’s grounded in love, anchored in service, and secure in who God is. To “let this mind be in you” does not mean thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less often, freeing you to love others with the same patient, gentle care you have received (Romans 15:2-3).
So, as you walk through today’s routines or face tomorrow’s challenges, remember that Christ’s humility wasn’t a single heroic act, but a lifelong posture. His Spirit is at work within all who believe, teaching us to care deeply, serve gladly, and trust God’s plan—even when it calls us low. As we follow Him, we find that humility is not loss but inheritance, shaping us into the likeness of the One who stooped low to lift us up.
