To dwell there means to live in the warmth of His unchanging love, a love that was hidden from the world but freely shared with His children (1 John 4:16). It’s as if we are placed gently in the cleft of a great rock, like Moses was sheltered when God’s goodness passed by (Exodus 33:22), or tucked into the quiet corners of His house, kept secure by His presence (Psalms 27:5; Ezekiel 7:22). God’s “shadow” is more than just protection—it is refreshment and rest, like relaxing beneath the leafy canopy of a great tree on a hot day (Song of Solomon 2:3). Here, under the care of our all‑sufficient God, we are shielded from every threat—the heat of judgment, the sting of injustice, and the attacks of the enemy. The invitation remains: abide in Him, night and day. In the safety of His shadow, His people find lasting peace and unshakable joy.
