And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

God promises that in the days following Christ’s redeeming work, a new kind of blessing will arrive—He will pour out His Spirit generously on people everywhere, not just a chosen few (Joel 2:28). This was fulfilled in a remarkable way after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, when the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost, as the apostle Peter explained (Acts 2:16-17). Before, God’s Spirit was given to specific people in special moments; now, in the days of Messiah, the invitation is wider. God reaches out to sons and daughters, young and old alike—no longer limited by age, gender, or social standing.

This gift of the Spirit isn’t reserved just for leaders or prophets. God promises dreams, visions, and spiritual gifts will be shared across all types of people, a sign that His wisdom and work aren’t restricted but are spreading into every corner of His family (Acts 11:28). What once was rare now becomes normal for all who belong to Christ. The coming of the Spirit marks a new era where the knowledge of God and the experience of His presence are available to everyone—far beyond what even the greatest saints of old knew (Luke 7:28).

In this promise, God’s kindness is on display: He gives not just forgiveness and new life, but His very presence to guide, comfort, and empower. In every generation, in every place, the Spirit continues this work—helping, teaching, and connecting God’s children to deeper fellowship with Him and with one another (Ezekiel 36:26; Isaiah 40:5).

Let this truth encourage you: God has not held back any good thing from His people. If you belong to Christ, the promise of the Spirit is yours—an ongoing gift of comfort, wisdom, and power for every day.
