Ephesians 3:20-21

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to Him who is able to do so much more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Picture Paul, pausing in prayer to marvel at God’s limitless power—a power that goes beyond what we imagine or dare to request (Ephesians 3:20). He is not just capable of answering our prayers; He works in ways that outstrip our boldest dreams. God’s power doesn’t have the same boundaries we do. While we sometimes feel hemmed in by what feels possible, God—by His very nature—cannot act against His own perfect character, but nothing true or good lies beyond His reach (Titus 1:2), (2 Timothy 2:13).

Paul reminds us that God often provides more than we ever thought to request. Like Solomon, who received blessings beyond what he could have articulated in prayer (1 Kings 3:13), we, too, benefit from the Spirit interceding when we don’t even know what to ask (Romans 8:26). God sees tomorrow’s needs before we’re even aware they exist (Matthew 6:8), making room for hope even when our words and imaginations fall short. This gentle invitation encourages us to bring our requests to Him, confident that He can do abundantly more.

The source of this hope is not in ourselves, but in the God who works powerfully within us by His Spirit—whether forming Christ’s character in everyday believers or strengthening apostles for their unique calling (Philippians 2:13). All of this leads to one, grateful response: glory to God. We honor Him not just because of what He gives, but because of who He is—faithful, generous, good, and steadfast in every age (Ephesians 3:21).

So take heart today: whether you’re asking for ordinary daily bread or longing for a breakthrough, remember that God cheers His people onward with abundant grace. Our worship, our endurance, our very lives bring Him glory—not just as individuals, but gathered together as His cherished church, offering praise through Christ, now and always.
