And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Let’s slow down a moment and truly listen to these words: “Let us consider one another.” That’s more than simply noticing each other in passing (Hebrews 10:24). It’s a gentle call to see one another with understanding and patience—making space for different personalities, backgrounds, and struggles. When we look at our fellow believers, we’re called to remember we all share the same grace, redemption, Spirit, and future inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 4:4–6). We are one family, united by a Savior who loves us equally and perfectly.

Why do we consider one another this way? So we can stir up—not criticism or envy, but love and good works. Love sometimes grows cold or discouraged, so God urges us to rekindle it in each other’s lives, kindling the warmth and light of Christ’s love in our gatherings and conversations (John 13:34–35). Good works don’t earn God’s favor, but they glorify Him, encourage others, and gently prove the reality of our faith as we serve together (Matthew 5:16).

We’re also counseled not to neglect gathering together. Christian worship isn’t meant to be a solo sport, but a shared celebration and support, ordered by God for our deep encouragement and growth (Hebrews 10:25). Skipping out on fellowship weakens us all; when we come together, whether joyfully or in struggle, we strengthen one another, remind each other of God’s promises, and point each other forward to the hope ahead.

As you see life’s pressures build, as the world grows wearier or darker, lean in even more to the fellowship of believers. There’s never been a more important time to gather, encourage, and urge one another onward until Christ’s return or your final day. Each meeting is a small rehearsal for that great gathering to come—let your presence, words, and love be part of strengthening Christ’s church.
