Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
We’re invited in Psalm 37:4 to savor our relationship with God—not as a duty, but as our soul’s greatest pleasure (Psalm 37:4). This “delight” is not fleeting or shallow; it’s about finding deep joy in who God is: Father, Son, and Spirit, and in His matchless qualities—His strength, faithfulness, kindness, and mercy. Take time to notice His handiwork in creation, His gentle care in your everyday life, and the breathtaking story of redemption made possible through Christ (Psalm 104:24; Ephesians 2:4-5). Each piece is an invitation to reflect, to wonder, and to rejoice.
This delight naturally spills over into every part of our faith—God’s Word becomes bread for a hungry soul (Jeremiah 15:16), the gathering of God’s people a source of encouragement, and worship a time to rest in His presence. Even the friendships we find among fellow believers are meant to point us back to the goodness of God Himself (Psalm 16:3).
There’s a comforting promise here: when our deepest joy is rooted in God, our desires begin to line up with His loving purposes. He graciously gives what is truly good—desires shaped by His will, longing for closeness with Him, new grace for each day, and, one day, eternal life in His presence (1 John 5:14-15; Psalm 21:2).
If your heart feels restless or hopes seem unmet, come back to this simple truth: God is most generous when we are most satisfied in Him. Rest in His love and let your longings be reshaped by His promises.
