Proverbs 3:25-26
Do not fear sudden danger or the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from the snare.
We often wake up to news that shakes us—a sudden crisis, unexpected loss, or a frightening rumor seems to come out of nowhere (Proverbs 3:25). It’s easy in those moments to feel our hearts gripped by fear, to wonder if safety or peace will ever return. But God invites us not to be overwhelmed by these shocks. If you belong to Him, you can rest, knowing your life is watched over by the One who never leaves His post, who never dozes off (Psalm 121:3‑4).
There are times when troubles seem to close in, whether through injustice, hostility, or hard times brought by those who care nothing for God or His people (1 Peter 4:12‑14). The suffering that sometimes comes our way isn’t a sign that God has forgotten us; instead, even in these circumstances, He is able to keep and deliver us. Think of Noah, safe in the ark as the floods rose (Genesis 7:23), or Lot, led out of danger from a city about to be destroyed (Genesis 19:16). And should we experience loss or hardship, we’re promised that, in the truest sense, all will be well eternally for those who love Him (Romans 8:18).
God Himself is our steady refuge—our confidence (Proverbs 3:26). Even when the world frowns on us for trusting in Christ and His Word, even when our confidence may look like folly to others, the Lord is right there in our trust, upholding us. Sometimes it’s in those very situations that seem most foolish, most risky according to worldly wisdom, that we find God to be our strongest help (1 Corinthians 1:27‑29).
Let these words comfort you: When fears come suddenly, or when darkness thickens around you, you are not alone. The Lord is your safeguard, keeping you from the traps and snares that would trip you up (Psalm 91:3). Hold tightly to Christ, and walk forward with peace, for happy and secure are all who trust Him.
