Hebrews 12:3
Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Let’s pause here and take the gentle advice offered: “Consider Him.” Think deeply about Jesus—not only in His majestic nature as the Son of God, heir of all things, and the Savior who holds every office needed for your rescue and guidance, but also in His perfect humanity (Hebrews 3:1). Picture how He lived among us: pure and gentle, humble and kind, always serving, always doing good, loving even those who doubted and rejected Him. He suffered not because of any wrongdoing, but for our sake, and is now glorified at the Father’s right hand (Philippians 2:8–9).
As you consider Jesus, remember how much He endured: crowds and leaders challenged Him at every turn, questioning His identity, mocking His compassion, even twisting His miracles into accusations (Luke 23:35–37). He was opposed for being exactly who He was—the innocent One, ridiculed and rejected. It wasn’t just His followers who drew opposition; Jesus Himself stood at the center of every attack. When we face opposition or misunderstanding, He truly knows what that feels like, right down to the deepest place in our hearts (Hebrews 4:15).
Sometimes, it’s easy to grow weary or lose heart when life feels like an uphill climb or when criticism and conflict make your faith heavy to carry. But the path before us is already marked out by Jesus—He suffered contradiction far greater than anything we face, with patience and unwavering faithfulness (Hebrews 12:2–3). When your spirit grows tired, look to Him; let His endurance steady your steps. His courage and compassion are not just examples but living encouragement that keeps us from giving up.
Friend, you are not alone in your struggles. Fix your eyes on Jesus, draw strength from His story, and let His endurance anchor you. Even when the road is tough, His faithfulness will renew your hope and help you finish well.
