Leviticus 18:22
You must not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination.
God’s instructions here are as clear as they are weighty: “You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22). The Lord is plain in His word about sexual boundaries, teaching that certain actions are not only a violation of His law but are also fundamentally at odds with the world as He designed it. In Scripture, the story of Sodom is an ancient warning that turning away from God’s design, especially in deep and personal areas of life, has serious consequences (Genesis 19:24-25).
New Testament writers echo this same seriousness. The apostle Paul includes those who practice such things among those who need the transforming power of Christ, referring to them as “abusers of themselves with mankind” (1 Corinthians 6:9). This language is blunt not out of cruelty, but to underscore how grave and unnatural the sin is—not only breaking God’s law, but also going against created order itself (Romans 1:26-27).
It’s important to remember, however, that the Bible’s warnings are never meant to produce mere condemnation, but to call us to God’s redeeming mercy in Jesus. No one is beyond the power of forgiveness, and every person—whatever the struggle—can find a new beginning and real hope in His grace (1 Corinthians 6:11). God hates sin because it harms what He loves, but He is always ready to restore all who turn to Him with honest, humble hearts (John 8:11).
Let these words point you to both the seriousness of God’s truth and the depth of His mercy. His law is good, His forgiveness is stronger, and His invitation stands open to all.
