Matthew 25:40
And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’
Imagine the awe of that final day when Christ the King calls you forward—not with distant majesty, but with warm, personal affection. Though He rules in radiant glory, He stoops to speak gently to His people. Even as you stand there, humbled and perhaps taken aback that He receives your small and stumbling acts of service, He assures you: “Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40).
This promise isn’t limited to apostles or the well-known, but embraces all who belong to Him—all saints, even the weakest and most overlooked. Christ calls us His brothers and sisters, not just by shared humanity, but by spiritual adoption as children of God, joined with Him in a family formed by grace (Romans 8:16–17). Every act of practical kindness, mercy, or encouragement given to even the “least” of His people, Jesus counts as service rendered to Himself. He treasures these humble offerings and will never forget them.
Sometimes you may feel your efforts are too small to matter, or your love too weak to be noticed. Yet Christ’s humble heart sets a different standard. The cup of cool water, the silent prayer, the visit to someone in need—all these echo with heavenly significance when done for His sake (Mark 9:41). The King who knows your name sees and cherishes every such moment.
So take courage if you feel unseen or unworthy. In God’s kingdom, nothing done in love goes overlooked. Trust that your service, no matter how unnoticed by the world, is precious to the Savior, who delights to call you His own and promises to reward all you do in His name.
