Romans 15:7

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring glory to God.

Picture a community where every person—no matter where they’re from, how strong their faith is, or what baggage they carry—is welcomed with deep, genuine warmth. This is the vision behind Paul’s call: “welcome one another, just as Christ also has welcomed you” (Romans 15:7). It’s an embrace that has no room for suspicion or coldness, no preference for one group over another, but instead extends a wide and loving invitation to all who belong to Jesus, whether Jew or Gentile, steady or struggling (Romans 15:1).

Consider how Christ has welcomed us. Before any of us ever turned to Him, He set His love on His people, planning their rescue even before time began (Ephesians 1:4). When He came to earth, He took on our nature and the full weight of our need—He chose not only to save us, but to bear our burdens Himself (Hebrews 2:17). Even now, every time someone comes to Jesus, they are never turned away. No matter how messy their past, He receives them with open arms (John 6:37). Sinners once far off find themselves at His table, enjoying fellowship they never earned (Luke 15:2).

All of this serves two beautiful purposes: first, that we would share in the glory God has prepared—being in His presence, transformed forever (Romans 8:30); and second, that God’s profound goodness would be displayed and celebrated among His people (Romans 15:6). Christ’s welcome is a testimony to God’s faithfulness, love, and mercy made visible; it’s His glory shining through redemption and grace (Hebrews 7:22).

So, let Christ’s gentleness and generosity shape the way you welcome others. In doing so, we glorify God together, showing a hopeful world what His love truly looks like.
