Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.
God has not left His people unprotected in their daily spiritual battles. “Put on the whole armor of God,” Scripture says (Ephesians 6:11). This armor isn’t something we invent or construct ourselves—it is thoughtfully crafted by God for us, suited perfectly to the spiritual challenges we face. Every piece, from the belt of truth to the helmet of salvation, comes from the hand of the Lord, and each is necessary. God’s armor is complete, wise, and powerful because He made it for those who belong to Him.
Receiving and putting on this armor is like getting dressed for battle, realizing that every believer is a soldier in a real but unseen war. We face an enemy not of flesh and blood, but the devil—a master of deception, cunning, and subtlety, always plotting to trip us up or draw us away from Christ (1 Peter 5:8). On our own, we have neither the wisdom nor the strength to stand firm. But when we put on God’s armor—His truth, righteousness, faith, gospel peace, salvation, and the sword of His Word—we find ourselves able to resist every scheme and lie hurled our way.
The command is not to fight alone, but to rely on what God Himself provides. His armor enables us not just to defend ourselves when darkness presses close, but to stand our ground in victory, pushing back through prayer, faith, and the unbreakable hope Christ gives (Romans 8:37). Jesus has already won the victory for us, and as we stand clothed in what He supplies, the devil’s cleverest attacks are met and defeated.
Take courage, then, and dress daily in God’s armor. Let the confidence of His provision settle your heart—you are well equipped, and the victory is sure, through Him who loves you.
