Proverbs 16:3

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be achieved.

There’s a quiet wisdom in the invitation, “Commit your works to the Lord” (Proverbs 16:3). God doesn’t ask us to shoulder life’s demands alone—whether it’s the daily grind, our family’s well-being, or the questions of faith that weigh on our souls. Instead, He invites us to roll the heavy load of our tasks, troubles, and even our deepest hopes onto Him, much like someone handing over a burden to a friend who is far stronger, knowing it will be well carried (1 Peter 5:7).

Sometimes this handing over feels like quietly opening our hearts and honestly sharing our needs—big or small—with God (Philippians 4:6). Though nothing about us is hidden from Him, He gently encourages us to speak openly and bring everything to Him in prayer. As we do, we’re reminded that God is not only willing, but able to handle what we give Him. Even the salvation of our souls, that most important and personal business, can safely rest in the hands of the One who has promised to keep what we entrust to Him (2 Timothy 1:12).

Once we entrust these things to the Lord, a new peace settles in—a calmness of mind, knowing that results no longer rest on our weak shoulders. Our thoughts gain stability and rest because we remember that God truly works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). We can relax, trusting God to work out His purposes, and go forward with a steady heart, confident that His care carries us further than our worry ever could (Psalm 37:5).

So today, whatever weighs on you, let it roll from your hands to His. The Lord is both faithful and kind—a sure place to leave every concern and ambition. In Him, our restless thoughts quiet and our steps find renewed strength.
