1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Picture the apostle drawing his letter to a close, calling the Corinthians his “beloved brothers and sisters”—not just as a formality, but out of genuine love and deep connection to them (1 Corinthians 15:58). Like a father guiding his children, he wants their faith to be sturdy, their convictions sound, and their daily lives aligned with the hope he’s declared.
He urges them to be steady and unshakeable, especially when it comes to the central promise of resurrection. In a world where ideas are tossed about like leaves in the wind, he calls them to plant their souls deep in the truth of Christ’s victory over death (1 Corinthians 15:20). The resurrection isn’t just a point of doctrine; it is the bedrock that can anchor their faith and choices, so that when doubts or troubles come, they won’t be easily moved.
But the encouragement doesn’t stop at right thinking. He points them forward: “Always abound in the work of the Lord.” Whether it’s sharing the gospel, quietly serving others, or faithfully living out love in the everyday, God’s work is not a chore—it is a privilege. And if you sometimes wonder if such efforts really matter, remember this promise: nothing you do for Christ will ever be wasted. God takes note, cherishes every act of love, and weaves it into His larger story, even when immediate results are invisible (Hebrews 6:10).
So take heart when you feel weary or unseen. The resurrection guarantees that every faithful act, big or small, carries eternal significance. Your service in the Lord—no matter how humble—is never done in vain (Galatians 6:9). With this hope, press on and let grace be your encouragement.
